No one else's safety is more critical.

History

An older former Blood Knight-
Family destroyed by the Scourge invasion, a crippling magic addiction, and little to live for, Inris joined the order early on for a sense of purpose. Doing anything, even to become hated, was better than doing nothing.
This, however, did not last. Due to bad behavior from incompetence in combat, talking back to superiors, and a close call with becoming Wretched, Inris and his companion Allir were kicked from the order entirely.Out of spite and refusal to acknowledge his own shortcomings, he still calls himself a Blood Knight- as long as it's convenient.

NorthrendThe source of the Scourge. The evil Inris blamed all ills of the world upon was Arthas himself- the reason his mind was dominated by consuming magic, the reason he had lost his home to the Ghostlands, the reason so many were dead or worse. It was without question he joined the war effort under the Horde's banner with the sole goal of killing Arthas. Nothing else came first. Not health, not family, not personal safety nor even surviving to the end of the war if it meant Arthas died.In the end, he did, but not without cost. The Wrathgate was a disaster, costing many lives, including that of Allir. Body never recovered to even mourn, the only thing left was storming Icecrown itself, and Inris was severely wounded in the fight with Putricide.Wounded enough that he missed the death of the Lich King to rotting in an Argent medical tent, with no goal.Nothing left to live for.

He drifted from war campaign to war campaign, as little more than a soldier for the Horde, under the mentality that nothing was left to matter over.Fight. Consume magic. Maybe sleep. Repeat. This era of his life, Inris was truly at his worst- perpetually near Wretched, perpetually wounded, tired, and throwing his sword behind any cause as simply something to do. In time, he worked for the Black Prince and thankfully was not present for the Purge of Dalaran, but unfortunately now forbidden from his apartment in the city. Not until the return of the Legion did he return, nor really care.

The Broken IslesWhat started as another war to back without care if he lived or died, and became a massive turning point in Inris' life.He took in a young blood elf, Matheiel, a survivor of the Purge of Dalaran. What started as spite for the boy's foster family became genuine care, and the start of him turning his life around to ensure he could adopt him.Despite numerous fallings out with romantic partners and lovers, the constant reminder of his deceased ex-fiance around his apartment, Inris managed to get clean from his magic addiction for the first time in years. It stuck. Not only that, but he founded his own guild, Ebonblade Pavillion. With family, a sense of purpose, and a goal in mind, for the first time in all too long he began to live as more than just as a soldier for the Horde.

A post Legion world...Was a surprisingly quiet one.He was quick to leave the Fourth War, quietly backing Saurfang's efforts to undermine Sylvanas, pulling strings with his allies to keep them, and Matheiel, from recruitment.Inris has had several stints of "retirement" since, mainly traveling with Matheiel to ensure his protection as there are few people he trusts to keep him safe. When Matheiel joined the Dragonscale Expedition, Inris did as well, temporarily working for the Black Prince once more as security around the Citadel. It's a routine he's stuck to since. No longer tied to the war efforts or faction conflicts, instead supervising his son's party of relic hunters and historians in their work wherever it leads.

All who joined the war, no matter their walk of life, had their own stories. It was no different for Inris, who at one point was a lowly Blood Knight not welcome among his own kind. How far had he come, with every broken promise and broken oath along the way.
